Protek Wood Preserver Plus

Protek Wood Preserver Plus is a water-borne product based on a modified alkyd emulsion. It contains active ingredients effective against wood destroying fungi, wood discolouring fungi and wood boring insects. Protek Wood Preserver Plus penetrates easily into wood and thereby gets deep into inner layers.It is moisture regulating and provides an adhesive surface for subsequent treatment with finishing paints (top coat). Intended Use

Protek Wood Preserver Plus is a wood preservative used for pretreatment of non-resistant wood in outdoor areas. It acts against wood boring insects.The product is applicable by brush treatment or professional/industrial applications.

Range of use

All outside wood, which is not in direct contact to soil or surface water and not stressed statically can be treated with Protek Wood Preserver Plus. This includes e.g.: facades, windows (inner and outer parts), exterior doors (inner and outer parts), carports, shutters and balcony railings etc. The product should not be used in indoor living spaces apart from external windows and doors.

Handling

Protek Wood Preserver Plus is a ready-to-use product and does not need to be diluted. Stir well before use. The product should be applied evenly in order to get best results. Reseal container after use. Do not allow this product to reach aquatic environments, the ground or the sewer system. Protect environment (e.g. soil, plants, aquatic environment) from splashes of Protek Wood Preserver Plus. Do not apply in damp conditions or if rain is imminent.

Compatibility

Over coating of Protek Wood Preserver Plus is possible with usual commercial top coats. However compatibility and adhesion should be tested in a sample.

Preparation

The wood surface must be clean and dry before treatment. All coatings should be completely removed. If necessary grey or deteriorated wood should be sanded down to a clean, sound surface. Wood should be frost-free when treated.

Processing temperature: 10-300C (wood and product)

Non-professional/ Professional uses: Apply by synthetic brush designed for water-borne products, spreading out thinly and evenly along wood texture.

Number of coats required: 2-3, depending on wood species and surface characteristics

Coverage: Approximately 8 square metres per litre (8m2/litre). Effective against wood destroying fungi, blue stain and wood boring insects at 120 ml/m.

Drying time: 4-6 hours under normal conditions (200C/ 65% rel. humidity). Low temperatures, increased humidity and ingredients of some wood types may increase drying time.

Cleaning of tools: Clean tools immediately after use with warm water, subsequently rinse with clear water or use commercial brush cleaner.

Subsequent surface treatment: Treated timber must be coated with a suitable finishing paint (top coat). Apply the final top coat directly after drying of the preserver on the wood surface.
